Booking the church building


The church building is available for people in the community to hire for private functions or community events and activities.
We have two main meeting areas which can be booked separately but both have access to the kitchen and toilets.

What sorts of events can I hold in the hall?

The hall is suitable for local community events such as dance or drama classes, or celebrations like children's birthday parties.  Owing to our location in a residential area, the hall is not suitable for live music events in the evening.  The maximum capacity is 100 people.


When is the hall available?

To see when the church hall is free click here.  The hall can be hired between 8am and 11pm.


How much does it cost to hire the hall?

The current rate is £17 per hour, with a £15 non-refundable deposit (to be deducted from the hire fee) needed to secure a booking.  Time for setting up and clearing away should be included in your booking, but these can be charged at half rates.  The balance must be paid in full before the date of the booking.  You can pay by cash, EFT or cheque (made payable to 'Magdalen Road Church').


What facilities are available?

The recently refurbished kitchen includes gas oven, fridge, microwave and dishwasher, as well as crockery, cutlery and children's plastic plates, bowls and cups.  Ten round tables and approximately 70 chairs are also available.  Full details can be found in the conditions of hire.


For children’s birthday parties, a selection of pre-school toys is available for hire, including a small bouncy castle for under 5s.  All toys are used at your own risk.  If you would like to hire these, please read these guidance notes and indicate on the booking form. A suggested donation of £20 should be made separately, by cash or cheque, payable to The Comfort Trust.  (This donation helps with the running costs of our Sunflowers toddler group, which owns the toys.)


How do I make a booking?

Once you've read the conditions of hire and checked the availability of the hall, please complete the online booking form.  The Bookings Manager will get in touch to confirm whether the booking is successful.  You will then need to pay a £15 deposit to secure the booking, and pay the balance in full before the date of the booking.


What if I need to cancel or change my booking?

Contact the Bookings Manager by e-mail or phone (01865 245887) if you need to cancel the booking or amend it.  Regrettably, in the case of cancellations the £15 deposit is non-refundable.
